Canon 1D Mark IV

A short story of how my Canon EOS-1D Mark IV came to it's end

Went out one morning to take photos of  two professional fresh water fishermen they were pulling up nets that they had put there the day before  , A lot of water was splashing around and coming in the small (12 ft) 3.66 m dinghy apart from the splashing it also started to rain

All this was not a problem for the 1D Mark IV as it is sealed but not so for the 50mm f1.4 i was using,Well i  decided  to change the 50mm for the sealed Canon EF 24-105 L lens , Big mistake with wet  and greasy hands and standing up in the boat while doing the lens change i was left holding
the 50mm f1.4 in my left hand and nothing in my right hand the 1D Mark IV was gone slipped out of my hand hit the top edge of the boat and went strait to the bottom of this murky river.

We recovered it by dragging a weighted fish net along the bottom, Not a pretty sight  full of  water mud and small stones inside the mirror box.
